Rotokawa School
Kia ora e te whänau,We trust you had a safe and happy holiday and are looking forward to starting school again on the 4th of February.Just like last year, Rotokawa Primary has opted into the Ministry of Education Donation Scheme. This means there will be no school fees for whänau to pay this year and the school will provide all school books for our tamariki.Attached are the lists of the consumable stationery lists for your child's 2021 class. To make it even easier for you, we welcome you to pay this cost online to the school bank account (number at the bottom, please use your child's name as the reference) and your child will receive their stationary on their first day of school. Of course you are more than welcome to shop for your own stationary as well, but we would ask that you support Office Products Depot on Old Taupo Road (next to Resene), who are our preferred stationary provider if possible. Also the same as last year your child will receive a sunhat during terms 1 & 4 which will stay at school and be used by them during breaks and outdoor activities. If by chance one of the school hats has made it home, can you please return it when school starts, along with any outstanding sports or kapa haka uniforms.Lunch in schools will also continue in 2021. As soon as we receive an updated menu, we will publish this for you to check out. Please let us know as soon as possible by emailing admin@rotokawa.school.nz if your child has any food allergies so we can let our caterers know. The school bank account number is: ASB - 12-3155-0183896-00If you could please check and update your internet banking with this bank account for the school it would be appreciated. Also don’t forget to use your child’s name as a reference. If you are not sure what class your child is in for 2021, please message the school facebook page or email Whaea Kim on admin@rotokawa.school.nz and she will get back to you when the school office reopens on the 26th of January.Thank you so much for all of your support for 2020 and here is to a great 2021. ... Our School

Rotokawa School is a contributing primary school with nine classes. Our students come from both rural and urban settings.

We are a friendly whanau focused school, all parents and caregivers are welcome within the school and are encouraged to share in their child’s education. We believe that each child’s education will be most effective when home and school work together.

We have a happy, focused and caring environment. All our students are supported to achieve personal success, and to develop the skills to be contributing members of our school and active participants in their own learning and future successes.

Our children experience regular excursions out into our community to support their learning. We are lucky with our parent and whanau support which makes our adventures together possible.

Vision and Values

The following vision statement and values were created with consultation of students, staff and the community.

Our Vision

Whakaarohia etahi atu; he pai ki te kura, he pai ki te ako, ki te whakapai ake i to wawata.
Consider others; enjoy school, enjoy learning, to improve your future.

Our Values

Have fun – Include others – Be respectful – Be safe and responsible – Be truthful

These values guide our curriculum and learning across the school year.

Our Mission

Creating exciting learning through stimulating, challenging, supportive, inclusive and relevant experiences.

School Crest And Motto

The crest shows the warrior chief on the prow of a canoe. It represents an old motto “Kia Hiwa Ra” which means “Look Ahead” – the current school motto “Whakaaro Nui Ki Etahi” means “Great Thoughts for Others” or “Consider others”.

Teachers use these terms with the children in class to support their learning along with our school vision and values.
