Roast Lamb and Grilled Steak have been added to the list of Main Meats and Proteins. Green Salad Mix, Red Slaw, Mushrooms, Corn, Green Capsicum and Quinoa Brown Rice have been added to the extensive list of Fillings. On Wednesday rooms 8,9,10 & 11 were visited by the Rotorua Police K9 section who brought out two working dogs and a puppy to have a session which consisted of a short introduction, a talk about who they are and what they do and an obedience and bite work display. Feedback from the students was that they enjoyed seeing the puppy and the grown dogs, and they liked watching the dogs doing there work.
Our breakfast club needs volunteers to get back up and running. It is a great way for your children to keep warm and dry on these chillier mornings and is also a great social time for the children before they go to class. All the supplies are here. Are you able to volunteer 45 minutes a day,a week, or a month from 8.15am - 9am to help with set up, serving and clean up. Many hands make light work and if we have enough volunteers we can create a roster. Please see Whaea Kim in the office for more information and to sign up.

Matariki represents the Maori New Year and to celebrate this year, the school is having a hangi in Term 3. Any and all donations are gratefully appreciated, A notice has gone home with further details.
Congratulations to all students who represented our school at the central cluster cross country event. A special congratulation goes out to Mario Alves who will represent our school on Tuesday 25th of June at the Bay of Plenty Cluster Cross Country event. Thank you to all parents who came to our school event, it was good to see so many whanau supporting the tamariki of Rotokawa School.
On Wednesday 3rd July, we will be having our Mid-year Reporting to Parent meetings from 12.30 p.m. These meetings allow both parents and teachers to meet together to discuss the Mid-Year Reports which will be sent out this Friday 28th June. All parents that attend their parent interview will go into the draw to win a meat pack. There will be 2 draws. It will be a big help if parents make arrangements to pick their child(ren) up from school at 12.00pm on this day. Please contact the school if you have any questions.
As some of you may have known, there was some asbestos material found in our school. This notice is to inform all parents that we have followed all procedures to ensure the safety of all our students and that our school is cleared of all asbestos material.
Congratulations to Kim Charity who recently won the position of Office Administrator for Rotokawa School. Room 1 students and teachers have been looking into Respecting our environment through the concept, ‘Ko au te whenua, ko te whenua ko au – I am the land and the land is me.’ In order to protect our native plants and animals, we planned, wrote about and created tracking tunnels that we have been monitoring. The results on the tracking cards have been quite astonishing! The results have created a lot of discussions around what we all notice and therefore think. We have also written persuasive writing to the rest of the school to encourage them to leave our tracking tunnels alone.
